In a great show of cooperation and numerous dedicated people behind the scenes, The Albert A. Stone Golf Classic “Stone Cup” has been a resounding success. Three golf courses were used in cooperation for the many players and the numerous games played during a weekend. The Jackson National, Woodland Hills & Jackson Country Club came together to create a successful Stone Cup Championship.
This was a major production where countless people not seen or never in the spotlight brought to life a super tournament in golf. Also unseen except for their banner was The Bank of Jackson, thanks to Gary Grisham. Previous winners and determined players went head to head looking for the Stone Cup, The Beverly Pearce Cup or The Senior Stone Cup. The Cup Championship came down to the last three holes before a winner stepped to the center stage. At that point an estimated 40-plus people were standing around the 18th hole. When the winning putt dropped the ball, the crowd jumped and cheered. It was the most thrilling closure in many years!
