No Place Like Home: Together at Home

A Transitional-Inspired Interior in North Jackson

Story & Photography by Chelsea Croom

Walking into the Little’s beautiful home in North Jackson, I felt instantly warmth and a feeling of welcomeness. Every corner was decorated beautifully, yet it felt clean and completely cohesive. I was met by Lisa’s kind greetings followed by Stephen’s. The first word that comes to mind to describe their space is thoughtful. It is clear upon entering their home they’ve created together that much thought went into it both by the couple and the Kelly Murray’s team of designers at Posh and Interiors, Inc, who helped make the Littles’ vision for the home come to life.

The couple, who met locally at Picasso in the summer of 2015 and married the next summer in Barbados, found the home two years ago when searching for a place the two could make their own. They looked at new construction in the area, but ultimately stumbled upon exactly what they were looking for when their now home hit the market. They’ve kept the bones that existed, but they’ve added their own touch to each room.

Lisa is originally from Rochester, New York, but grew up in Paris, Tennessee. She moved to Jackson in 2001 and fell in love with the community through her 14-year career at the Chamber of Commerce. Now, she works for Integrated Marketing Systems and enjoys her free time with her husband.

Stephen, who grew up locally, is the Chief Sales Officer for XMC, Inc Technologies. He is the father of three children—Jack, William and Ava.

It was evident to me how much the couple enjoyed being together, and that radiated through to the planning of their home. Even while I was shooting the photos of their spaces, they were flipping through magazines discussing their plans for their outdoor spaces.

Lisa mentioned that they had been doing their home in phases, the first being the entire downstairs which consisted of an open and inviting entry, an office, beautiful guest bathroom, master bedroom and bath, living room, dining room and an inviting kitchen with both a breakfast nook and a hearth room attached. The flow of their home was great and each space felt very well connected to the others, which of course was no accident and was very well planned by both Lisa and Stephen and the team at Posh and Interiors, Inc.

The couple says their style is “a mix of transitional and modern.” They love abstract art, bold pieces and clean lines.

They knew when planning their space, they wanted a “wow” factor in each room. They wanted to work with the home’s original feel and existing aesthetics while also adding decor pieces to achieve the touches of modern they desired. The home turned out to be a beautiful space that is also comfortable and functional for the couples’ everyday lives.

Lastly, when I asked the couple what home means to them, they answered that they truly love to be at home. They listen to music together, cook and enjoy time with their family and friends there. So, when they think about home, they simply think about a space they love to be in all the time.

“We had an empty canvas and now we have this home as a couple.”

That love for their home and one another was truly evident and something that made their space come together into a gorgeous and happy home here in Jackson.
