I Am Jackson: Todd Swims

Todd Swims

What is your hometown?

I spent my childhood in Memphis, growing up alongside my two brothers. At age 12, our family moved to Dyersburg, my parents’ hometown. My teenage years were shaped by the warmth and charm of small-town life, with a strong sense of community. Living close to my extended family allowed me to forge connections with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, creating cherished memories.

Also in Dyersburg, I met the love of my life, who later became my beautiful bride. In 1989, Missy and I moved to Jackson after I was transferred with General Motors Acceptance Corp. For the past 35 years, Jackson has been our cherished home. We treasure the moments we share with our two adult children-Weston and Sydney, their families, and our two wonderful grandchildren.

What is your profession?

I have served as the President and CEO of Leaders Credit Union since 1992. I’ve had the privilege of working with talented, passionate individuals and engaging with inspiring leaders in our community. This role has allowed me to help countless people across West Tennessee, which has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. To my family and me, Leaders Credit Union is more than a workplace—it’s family. Witnessing our growth over the years and seeing our financial champions make a difference in the lives of our members has been an honor.

Where have you volunteered?

I am grateful for the many opportunities to give back to our community. I have served with organizations like the STAR Center, Boys and Girls Club, Jackson Symphony, Jackson Arts Council, Chamber of Commerce, Red Tie Society, Leaders Education Foundation, Hope and Healing Foundation, Community Foundation, and the Downtown Rotary Club. Volunteering has broadened my perspective and deepened my understanding of our community’s needs, making me even more appreciative of living in a city that values service above self.

What are some of your favorite things about Jackson?

I love Jackson’s heart and passion. It combines the charm of a close-knit community with the amenities of a larger city.

Three words that best describe you:

Passionate, authentic, caring

What is the one thing that you do not go without each day?

Starting the day with a good cup of coffee and my wife by my side is something I cherish every day.

Finish this statement: I AM JACKSON because...

...this city has shaped me, inspired me, and given me the opportunity to serve and grow alongside an amazing community.
