Feast in the Field

Christy Futtrell of the American Heart Association sponsored a very special dinner at the Casey Jones Village “Farms Learning Center” as a thank-you to supporters. The theme was “Feast in the Field” and guests entered through the Colonial Civil War home that was saved and moved from Trenton by the Shaw family. On the back deck they were serenaded by The Kevin Wright group.
From the rear deck attendees strolled to the walkway entrance to Farm Learning Center, where students may study how fresh vegetables are grown. This is a partnership with the American Heart Association to educate people on healthy eating and the origin of their food. A long table was set for 76 people with floral settings that incorporated vegetable greenery. Guests enjoyed one-inch thick ribeye steaks from grass-fed cattle, which was marinated and oven-baked, and vegetables from the garden. The chocolate molten lava cake with marshmallow topping drew oohs and ahs from the attendees.
