The Fur Ball
/Story & Photography by Woody Woodard
The 18th Annual Fur Ball was held at the Jackson Country Club for a large group of supporters. Upon entering the entry hall one could get their picture taken with a donation going to the Jackson-Madison County Humane Society. Lining both sides of the long hallway were the items for the silent auction. Event sponsors included Bruce and Dottie Dorris, The City of Jackson, Antonia's Paw Spa and Retreat, and Kirkland's. Media sponsors were VIP Jackson Magazine, Golden Circle Graphics, The Jackson Sun, WBBJ-TV, Six in the City, and Forever Communications.
The Humane Society does not receive any form of Federal, state or designated city funding, so their existence comes from generous donors. They are a no-kill shelter and through great efforts by their volunteers, homes are found for deserving animals. There is a great need for donations of food, newspapers and litter, flea/tick prevention, crates and volunteers as foster parents!
An adopted animal will change your life for the better.
