West Tennessee State Fair
/Story & Photography by Woody Woodard
This year the fairgrounds building was redecorated to spotlight all the communities which are a part of the West Tennessee State Fair. Each community had a station with literature about the community, maps of their noted spots and free gifts for the kids. Woodmen Life sponsored a First Responders Night honoring the Fire Department, Sheriff’s Department and Jackson City Police.
The walk around the rides was exceptionally clean and booth personnel were eager to get the kids involved in fishing for a prize. The adults headed for their favorite places like the 4H chicken plates or one of the foot-long corn dogs. A bear claw was just right for dessert if you had room for the two-person size bear claw.
Mayor Jerry Gist, County Mayor Jimmy Harris, Chamber Red Coats and Mike Perry, Fair Director, came together for the ribbon cutting at the entrance to the Fair’s main building.
