Arts Backstage

Jackson locals enjoyed a special evening celebrating local artists in the new Arts District downtown on Tuesday evening, May 10. The Arts Backstage is a unique event organized by the Jackson Arts Council that brings together creators of all kinds from the area—visual artists, musicians, performers, authors, crafters—and lets the community enjoy and celebrate the amazing art being created here in the Hub City. Friends and colleagues gathered after work at the indoor/outdoor event which included food and drinks, live music, pop-up performances showcasing local theater and dance, and a silent auction.
Inside The Ned, artists sponsored by local businesses were set up on the stage so that members of the community could really get to know local artists and hear live music by local musicians throughout the evening. The street was blocked off, and there were more artists and crafters outside for people to explore as well as a stage for pop-up performances. Live performances included Coopertheband, School of Rock, Lonita McClellan, Ballet Arts Inc., and The Jackson Symphony. Event sponsors were the City of Jackson, Town and Country, and Hiller Heating & Cooling. Follow Jackson Arts Council on social media to learn more about upcoming events promoting the arts in Jackson.
